GroupM Releases its This Year Next Year 2024 Midyear Global Advertising Forecast
Our 2024 Global Midyear Advertising Forecast explores how external factors spanning technology, culture, government and the economy will impact advertising over the coming months and years. We estimate that global advertising revenue will grow 7.8% in 2024 to $989.8 billion, an upward revision from the 5.3% we forecast in December. The advertising industry is expected to surpass one trillion dollars in revenue in 2025, increasing 6.8% to $1.1 trillion, one year earlier than previously forecast.

GroupM Agencies Take Four of Top Five Media Agency Spots in WARC Effective 100 List 2024
Today, WARC released its Effective 100 List 2024 where GroupM—WPP’s media investment group—agencies made up 80% of the top five “top media agencies” category that highlights work effectiveness based on location. Within that list, Mindshare New York ranked first, Wavemaker Mumbai ranked second, EssenceMediacom New York ranked fourth and EssenceMediacom Mumbai ranked fifth, respectively. In the “top campaigns” category, GroupM agencies held three of the top 10 spots. Wavemaker Mumbai, in partnership with Ogilvy Mumbai, came in first for its “Shah Rukh Khan-My-Ad” Cadbury campaign—which also won the Creative Effectiveness Grand Prix at Cannes Lions—EssenceMediacom London & Mumbai came in second with its “Keep Girls in School” campaign for Whisper and Mindshare New York came in seventh with its “See My Skin” campaign for Vaseline.

GroupM Agencies Top 2023 COMvergence New Business Rankings
In its report released today evaluating 2023 new business performance, COMvergence assessed GroupM agency Wavemaker to have outperformed all others in total new business value in 2023. Mindshare also ranked first overall in new billings. And, for the third straight year, COMvergence’s reporting showed that, collectively, GroupM led the industry in retentions.
